Yes pelican can be used to generate static website and gitlab pages can be used to host it.
In terms of contents on the website I think they can fall under these categories:
* Home: Shows latest news & activities related to the group e.g. the recent install fest in St. Mary's
* Mailing list: A brief information about the mailing list and instructions to help newcomers to join the list.
* About: A brief introduction about the group, may be history or past activities (Need help on this).
* Schedule: A schedule of forthcoming meet or event (hackathon, install fests), may be name and description the event for example name of speakers and brief introduction about the talk.
In my opinion we can also have a contact email, and have a message saying something like "Want us to help you in switching your school's software to libre software, drop us a line"
(I am not a copywriter, so anyone more knowledgeable can frame the call to action here)
What do you guys think of this? Do we need more sections. Am I missing something?
If anybody is interested in creating the copy or any other content , or even help with designing, then they are most welcome.
I will try to find some time and try to come up with a simple design.
